The Truth of Jesus' Resurrection According to the Bible
According to the King James Version as recorded at Luke 23:43, Jesus said to the evildoer, "Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise." Was Jesus promising the evildoer he would be in paradise with him that particular day? From appearances, that would seem to be the case. However, appearances can be deceiving. If this version of the original scripture were true, it would imply Jesus was in paradise immediately after his death. If that were true, why would he need to be resurrected? However, other scriptures say otherwise. The King James Version, as well as other versions of the holy scriptures, have mistakenly placed the comma in Jesus' statement in regard to the word "today" in the wrong place. The translator's mistake was a result of the false belief they held concerning the idea people go to heaven after death. A false idea influenced by the mistaken doctrine of the immortal soul.
