The Word as Explained by the Gospel of John

John was a cousin, apostle, and intimate friend of Jesus Christ. He referred to himself as "the disciple whom Jesus loved." John personally knew Jesus more than the other apostles did, aside from Peter. He no doubt had many intimate discussions with Jesus Christ as to who he was. John opened his Gospel account with the words, "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not anything made that was made."--King James Version. Most people would not know the following because they would assume they are being told the truth by those who they trust to know. The Apostle John wrote his gospel in Aramaic and the common Greek. Koine Greek did not have an indefinite article, such as "a" is used in English, only the definite article "the".
